Mike, The bike ran GREAT (except for the times I messed with it :D I should know by now to leave well enough alone at the track). Rebecca broke the 72.085 record on the first run at 75.518. We switched riders and classes and I took a 0 standing vintage production modified partial streamline class record with 72.472. After my two runs, Rebecca got back on and ran another 8 times cinching the record with 77.394. We saw no rain while the track was open, but the skies decided to open up in the evening. It was a light weekend. Only about 50 pre-registered riders/drivers which was much less by Sunday. I started the day with two runs and handed over the reins to Rebecca about noon (course didn't open until 10 because the fire truck was late to arrive). I didn't speed beyond 71. Rebecca got in 5 runs; one of which inched the record up to 77.588! So all the work paid off. We went from 72.085 to 77.588. Thanks for all your help. It may not seem like a lot to you, but the information we gathered during our testing was invaluable. The absolute speed gains we accomplished may seem small, but on a percentage basis they are huge. We could not have done it without your help. Dan P.S. This is the last year for the ECTA at Maxton NC, rumor is they are moving to Ohio. Much closer, only 6 hours. |
I met Mike a few years back at Bonneville along with several members of the Buell Brothers Racing Team. What a fantastic group of diversified talent. Mike struck me as one of the quieter, soft spoken guys, but don't let that fool you. Mike really knows his stuff when it comes to the H. D. V Twin motor. Now fast forward to 2010 on the salt, and I find out Mike is right here on the North side of Chicago. After hearing he is the Dyno Technician to see in the midwest the conversation evolved to bringing the old Gray Ghost to Mike's Dyno room for some preliminary H.P. readings before this years rebuild. That did it ! There is no doubt in my mind that the nick name "DynoMike" is most perfectly suited for him. I have seen other so-called dyno technicians at work before, but Mike certainly has the touch and analytical knowhow to squeeze every horse out of the subject motor, and then even suggest what improvements could be made to make even more power. That's the name of the game isn't it ! We want more power. Last word for now is - DynoMike is the only person the Gray Ghost Project will be going to for performance Dyno tuning. Thanks to Mike for a real 1st. class operation. Respectfully Jim "Jimbo" Fischer Gray Ghost Project 2007 AMA Land Speed Record M/PP 1350 2008 Buell Bros. Racing Enthusiast of the Year |
